New Administration Building for Blue Water Shipping A/S

- When we are settled in it will give us good growth possibilities in the future. Not only because of the fact that we, hopefully, are through the crisis, but also the knowledge and certainty that Aalborg until 2022 is secured the position as Greenland’s base harbour, which was decisive for the go-ahead with our expansion.
These were the words from General Manager Ole Bøgh Ulriksen on October 25 when the new building for Blue Water Shipping Aalborg was toured. Back in 2008 when a new warehouse of 1,000 m2 were taken into operation there already was a need for a new administration building, but Blue Water Shipping A/S decided to wait await the development. And the development has been so positive that Blue Water in Aalborg now has 40 employees in administration and terminals.
The new administration building, which has the Port of Aalborg as contractor, is 325 m2 and will be taken into use in April 2012. Thereafter a comprehensive renovation of the existing building will begin, and at the same time a smaller “engine room” will be established as well as an archive in connection with the terminal, which after the expansion in 2008 is 3,000 m2.
- We are in a period where there is progress in all our business areas: the traffic in the North Atlantic, air freight and courier service, overseas container transport and road transportation in Europe. It is not least due to the foodstuff transportation from the North Atlantic to the rest of the world which is in growth. In just this area we have had to increase our staff from two to five employees.
Blue Water Shipping Aalborg is one of the companies, which take advantage of the feeder line Aalborg-Rotterdam.
- We are using it to a great extent; especially for reefer containers with foodstuffs. The harbour’s connection on the global transportation network is a good initiative, which we support as much as we can.
In his speech Ole Ulriksen thanked the employees for their patience in a time with cramped conditions in their current office.
- Now we will be getting twice as much space in the office. That means that we have room for 100% growth in our activities, right? The competent personnel we already have ready for it, said Ole Bøgh Ulriksen, who in 1993 was the first employee when Blue Water Shipping A/S established itself at the Greenland harbour in Aalborg. Since then he has been the department leader and is also responsible for the development of the groups’ North Atlantic activities.
